September 9th will be one year since I began treating people at Long Beach Community Acupuncture—and what a year it’s been! As I write, this clinic has provided 2,821 affordable (and free) acupuncture treatments. This is amazing to me and I cannot adequately express my gratitude for your continued support of this clinic with your presence and kind words to others about community acupuncture in Long Beach.

Many of the people who used this clinic in our first year were completely new to this modality, while others had been getting pinned since the 70s. Many never even knew acupuncture could be an affordable option for their healthcare.

This clinic has been blessed, not only with wonderful patients, but also with capable volunteers in Gabrielle, Sharon, Patty, Bernadette, Micky, Jessica, Tracy, and Karen. They have made the clinic experience better for everyone and strengthened our community.

I am grateful every day for your presence, trust, and patience. Thanks for genuinely giving this medicine a try, following through on a treatment plan; thanks for trusting me to pin you over and over, even when some points are stronger than others; and thanks for trusting other patients, who you don’t even know, who come in, nap, and sometimes snore right beside you.

It is a beautiful series of acts, really, that sustains LBCA as a place of healing, community, and support.
