In our community environment we want everyone to feel welcome and be as comfortable as possible. We appreciate your cooperation with our clinic policies.

COVID-19 CLINIC POLICIES—I CANNOT TREAT YOU IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES:

  • In any given hour of community acupuncture, there are only 3 spots available for treatment. Each patient is scheduled in 20 minute increments, but can rest up to an hour. It is crucial that you show up at your appointment time, not any earlier or later and that you do not enter the clinic, until that time. We cannot have anyone in the waiting area except for the person who is being pre-screened for treatment.

  • Sliding scale $30- $50, with new patients adding $10 for the initial consultation. Packages purchased prior to 2020 are no longer valid. Gift certificates, however, have no expiration.

  • The clinic is a BYOS (&B&P)—bring your own sheet and blanket and pillow--clinic. If you would like to use one of ours, you can rent one for a small fee ($2 for each item you use).

  • PPE: You must wear a mask—properly--during the entire visit. The mask should cover your nose and mouth. I will be wearing a mask to treat you as well.

  • You will be prescreened before each treatment. At each visit, before you are taken back into the treatment room, I will take your temperature and go through a series of questions to make sure it’s safe for you and me and others at the clinic. It’s possible you may not be able to be treated in this environment on that day, but will be directed to a testing center.

  • You must sanitize your hands before entering the treatment room. I will have a dispenser available for you to use prior to entering the treatment room. In the event I cannot procure hand sanitizer, you will be required to wash your hands before sitting in your chair.

  • Distal Treatments. One of the greatest things about acupuncture is the power of distal treatments—using points “away” from the affected area (e.g. ankle points to treat neck pain). I have been honing these skills for 8 years. To minimize the possibility of transmission, I will avoid any points on the face, with the exception of the ear. I have great confidence in this skillset and know it can be very effective for all kinds of health problems.

Non-discrimination

LBCA does not discriminate on the basis of race, nationality, age, weight, religion, politics, education, ability, sex, gender, or sexual orientation.

SOFT VOICE, SCENT-FREE

We treat in a common area and keep our voices down to create a pleasant environment for napping with needles. Please speak softly in the treatment room and be sure to turn off your cell phone when you enter. Also, we ask that you arrive scent-free as many people experience severe migraines or allergic reactions to strong smells.

NO NEED TO UNDRESS

There are many ways to treat conditions with acupuncture. In our shared treatment space, we use points on the forearms, hands and legs to address your issues, so there is no need to undress. This creates a safe environment for everyone and we find distal needling to be really effective.

FINANCIAL POLICIES—PAYMENTS, INSURANCE, AND CANCELLATIONS

Full payment is due at the time of treatment. Choose what you can afford from our sliding scale, $30-$50. New patients pay an additional $10 for the initial consultation. I will never ask for income verification. I accept cash, checks, and credit cards. Correct change is always appreciated. WE NOW REQUIRE A CREDIT CARD TO HOLD AN APPOINTMENT. ONCE YOU ARRIVE FOR YOUR TREATMENT, WE WILL COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION WHICH IS CONTACT FREE.

As a community clinic, LBCA does not bill insurance but is happy to provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company based on the amount you've paid within our fee scale. Just let me know.

We ask for 12 hours notice if you must cancel your appointment. Missed or late cancels are subject to a no-show fee. If you miss your appointment without adequate notice, we will collect the fee from the credit card you used to hold the time slot.
